The Southern Syrup Research Center fulfills WVU’s land grant mission of teaching, research and service focusing on the sustainable production of tree syrups in the central Appalachian region. We recognize the potential of using tree sap from maple and other tree species to sustainably produce syrups and other value-added products that contribute to the Appalachian economy.
